This band is so fucking incredible. they made a lot of great rock albums.
My fav is Quadrophenia - just has energy that i enjoy listening to.
not taking away from Tommy. definitely a classic.

I don't mean to be contrarian or iconoclastic or anything, but I'd actually put this at #5 in the Who discography, maybe #4 on some days. I might even go so far as to say Tommy was a bit of a disappointment for me after The Who Sell Out, which I still consider to be their best LP.

So I'd probably rank them this-a-way:
  1. The Who Sell Out
  2. Who's Next
  3. Quadrophenia
  4. A Quick One/Happy Jack
  5. Tommy
  6. The Who By Numbers
  7. Who Are You
And it's not that I don't like concept albums. I do like concept albums. Maybe I just don't like operas all that much? ๐Ÿค”

If I go by "how often do I listen to the album", Tommy is #3 on my Who list. Sell Out is #1 and Quadrophenia is #2.

I vividly remember getting a 120-minute cassette loaded up and ready to go to tape the NYC Tommy that was broadcast live on the radio in 1989. It was right before I saw them at the Vet in Philly 10 July '89. I still have that radio broadcast stashed away somewhere!
