Most of Petra Haden's solo discography is 100% a cappella, though she's been known to throw in a bit of violin on occasion.

She once released a complete track-by-track a capella cover rendition of The Who Sell Out, for example:

However, don't be fooled by this album, which in any event is not a capella.

Trust me, you won't like it! Anxious

Hey, does it count if some of the vocals are sampled and then played back through digital sampling synthesizers? I would imagine that this question is a source of constant conflict, feuding, and bickering between "purists" and "revisionists." However, if samplers are allowed, then one of the best-known early examples would be this track from Big Science by Laurie Anderson, as I'm fairly certain no non-vocal instrument samples (or real instruments) were used.

Why won't I like that last album? Is it a blasphemous album? Anyway, I am not a fan of The Who. But I did check out 2 audio clips from this release.

Her version of "The Windmills of Your Mind" didn't sound bad from the sample, but it is not a cappella. Thanks for participating in my thread. Edit: I don't like the Laurie Anderson track.

Thanks. Those are nice. Here's another a cappella Star Spangled Banner version by En Vogue.
