In my case it was "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" about 10 years ago. During those years I was obsessed with Oasis, so when I saw the album in a music store, I didn't hesitate to buy it.

At age 15, I got a job. Went to the stereo store in Green River, Wyoming and put an entire system on lay away. Brought it home one piece at a time...receiver, speakers, cassette deck, turntable. All good stuff. When I finally picked up the last piece, I stopped and bought this on vinyl...

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
...hooked it all up, and spent the next 3 days buried in the music of Jeff Lynne.
Those were a pretty fine three days. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

Magical Mystery Tour by The Beatles
I still have it, too... I should check whether or not it's still playable. It should be, since I never did subject it to 500-degree blast oven conditions like I did with the Gary Numan albums.

My first ever album purchase is one of the following and all three were on cassette.
Tanya Tucker-What Do I Do With Me
Hal Ketchum-Past The Point Of Rescue
Travis Tritt-It's All About To Change
God bless you and Travis and Tanya always!!!
Holly (a girl who forever misses Hal)
P.S. I can't remember which one came first. I only remember that my purchase of Tanya's album was during the summer of 1991. I just now read that the album was released on July 2nd that year which was two days after my ninth birthday. _________________ Me & my favorite singer James Otto

Discovery by Electric Light Orchestra
They were my first musical love. To find lesser known album tracks away from the greatest hits collection I was given prior was a joy. The runts of the litter hidden away on albums more often than not become the most cherished tracks.

For me it was actually last month I bought my first three records!
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess - Chappell Roan
Disintegration - The Cure
Horses - Patti Smith
I don't actually have a record player yet hah, but I've used my brothers one so that's been good.

The Unforgettable Fire by U2
I was obsessed with U2 when I was a teenager....not so much anymore. Still, they had a string of amazing albums from War to Achtung Baby. This is my first record I bought and my favourite U2 album.

Standing In The Road by Blackfoot Sue 7' from a second hand box. I was 12 I didn't have enough spends for a current chart single which would have been about 50p UK money at the time but I was determined to leave with something and I guess I just liked the look of the label (because in the UK they didn't come in picture covers at that time). Bought it unheard but it turned out not to be a bad choice. Could have been a lot worse as first records go.
