Hi all. If This thread does not generate much interest we can stop but I thought that it might be interesting to discuss albums by different artists but the same album title. Which one is best is totally subjective so maybe not that but maybe a discussion around the merits of each.

Happy to have suggestions.

I'll kick off with the first suggestion below

One of the most-used titles is "The Black Album":

The Black Album (1994) by Prince

The Black Album (2018) by Lee "Scratch" Perry

The Black Album (2003) by Baby Bird

The Black Album (2011) by The Exploding Boy

The Black Album (2003) by Jay-Z

The Black Album (1980) by The Damned

The Black Album (2014) by A Pony Named Olga

Index (The Black Album) (1967) by Index (US)

Anyway, there are lots of album titles that have been used multiple times. I could go on for hours!

Its easy to find examples online. But in my own collection there is only one example (except for Greatest Hits, or Live at Carnegie Hall).

Works (Volume 1) (1977) by Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Works (1984) by Egberto Gismonti

Two very different albums but I like them both in different ways.

Blur 13 is my 2nd favourite blur album after Think Tank. Far more electronic than their early albums which makes sense when you think that William Orbit produced it.

For what were considered one of the pioneers of Britpop, this is lyrically quite a dark album. One thing that I always liked about Blur, over some of the other Britpop artists is that they never stood still. Always changing and evolving musically.

You can sort of see how Gorillaz developed from this album. Anyway, I really like this album.

Black Sabbath 13 is a totally different beast. This, for me, was one last hurrah for the band, although with Bill missing it was never going to be a complete Sabb album. The choice of Rick Rubin to produce it was inspired (I loved his work with Johnny Cash).

The song writing and performances on this album are right up there. I'd like to single out God Is Dead? A great doom metal track.

I cannot choose between these two albums so I'm going for a score draw. Both great in their very different ways

I think that another good "face off" would be

Cloud Nine (1969) by The Temptations

&

Cloud Nine (1987) by George Harrison

Totally different albums but both with merit. Going to give this one some thought and write something up

"Native Sons" has four:

Native Sons (2021) by Los Lobos

Native Sons (1987) by Strangeways

Native Sons (1984) by The Long Ryders

Native Sons (1982) by Bill Miller

BEA doesn't show any bands called "Native Sons"... there are a two or three on Discogs, but it looks like only this one has released a self-titled LP. (Two of them, actually.)
