Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.0/100, a mean average of 72.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

Wow! Damn! A masterfully executed elevation of punk rock to daring new heights without sacrificing the core philosophy of the genre. I don’t know how they pulled it off. The first few times I heard it, I just thought “what a great punk record,” but then I started to realize as I listened more carefully that this was way more than just another punk record.

I bought this album the day it was released on vinyl. If it had a bigger audience I'm sure the rating would be far higher.

Nobody's heard this masterpiece...but the chosen few are aware of it's sonic importance...the first 4 tracks are perhaps the best opening to any album...always underrated for their proficiency this set is remarkable...angry, smart, sarcastic lyrics....recklessly fun rockers...hans zimmer production...dark,haunting lyrical/musical scapes like "dr.jeckyll and mr. hyde" and the monolythic "curtain call"...Captain Sensible is my favorite guitar hero of all time...this band is great and this ambitious effort doesn't miss
