- Post subject: Adding Published Charts
|
OK I know this is my ... 3rd I think suggestion this week but I think this might actually be the most important. Included in "The Charts" are the famous published lists from NME, Vh1, Rolling Stone, etc. How is it decided what published charts count towards the rankings and not just as a custom chart?
For example, NME had a new greatest albums list come out, but this is not included on the site.
Other recognized sites like SPIN (I hate that I can't call it a magazine anymore ...) have had best of lists come out that also seem to be missing.
Why is this? I suppose mostly this is a question and not a suggestion, but if there were some way to submit a list like this to be approved by a mod, wouldn't that help? I don't know ... just noticed that and thought I'd ask. _________________

There is already a mechanism to do this, but probably not well publicised. People can add these types of chart via the custom charts feature and then let me know and I'll attribute these to the relevant publication.
Only year, decade and overall charts are allowed to be added this way (otherwise the process will be unmanageable). A few charts have already been added via this mechanism e.g. decade charts from Pitchfork. See this thread for more details - http://www.besteveralbums.com/phpBB2/vi...950#172950
