This is a must for The Smiths and Echo Bunny Men fans on here. I would stick to this album though as the one which follows is more morbid than both of the artists I have mentioned could ever have dreamt of been.

The best way I've heard this described is Anthony Fantano saying this is 90's music before the 90s. Which it totally is. This is such a terrific album with one memorable song after another.

One of the greatest debuts. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out this album was a huge influence on the Pixies. _________________

Incredible. The moment when the singer counts to ten in Add It Up is one of the all time climaxes of music. The only reason why this isn't on my chart anymore is because a few tracks aren't exactly essential (don't exactly remember which ones, but I'm pretty sure I could do without Confessions and Promise). That said, it's amazing, and I should probably listen to it again, to check out if my opinion has evolved.

There are a fairly few albums that I recall having a bad reaction to. This is one of them. I just remember thoroughly disliking this album the 2nd time I heard it. The first time I just didn't know what to think. Now that 5 years have passed I think I will confront revisiting it.
Blister in the Sun is one of the stupidest fucking songs and I hate it to its core. _________________ -Ryan

A very solid album, it's a very strange mix of acoustic indie, folk and post-punk.
Highlights are Blister in the Sun, Please Do Not Go, and Good Feeling. _________________
