When people say things like this, I desperately want them to elaborate and explain why it is important. So, care to elaborate?

Its a nice enough album but I dont really think its that great. Ive never had any sort of emotional connection to this and it is most definitely not the pinnacle of "indie rock" or the last decade

It is a decent album, i give it a 5 out of 10. If grading on a curve because of the futility of others it gets an 8 or 9.

It's a perfect album, but it's rarely touched me enough to break a chart. 'Haiti.' 'Wake Up,' and 'Neighborhoods #1' might be my favorite songs from Arcade Fire, but I feel The Suburbs had even more songs I enjoyed, though it was less consistent than this dude. It's an album I think is a bit over-appreciated for the decade, but I still like seeing it on charts. It's got a kind of youthfulness to it (like AnCo or Broken Social Scene) that appeals to innocence and exploration, and it's got musical diversity, and it's got lyrics from sweet to bittersweet to melancholy. It truly is a perfect album, it's just never really struck a chord with me as much as others.

I just find this album overly average in almost every aspect. It's got a nice sound and all, but it really doesn't excel past that. |
I didn't see your comment as clearly negative. BrandonMeow's was the first one.

I went through a phase where I thought this, and now I'm back to completely loving it.

Even on release I don't think I was a big fan of Funeral. At this point I can understand all of the effort put into it, but I still prefer their later releases (specifically The Suburbs) to it, oddly enough. It's a pretty unpopular opinion, but Funeral doesn't do much for me. Maybe I should relisten to it?
