I know we've seen our fair share of pro and anti streaming articles in the past few years, but this one my buddy wrote for Business Insider is a pretty great look at the controversial subject matter.

http://www.businessinsider.com/a-musici...my-2014-11

"That $15 you spent on Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Californiation" was cut up so many times even a frontman of Anthony Kiedis' esteem could have seen less than 15 cents. When you take into account that the cost of CDs was artificially inflated and we should have probably been paying half what we were, you realize Kiedis' maybe-15-cents-per-disc was like hitting the lottery every single sale. That's why piracy, and then legal streaming, came along."

Good article and spot on. Illegal downloading or streaming or taping an album of a mate never harmed music in anyway, in fact it's the opposite. "home taping is killing music" you know.

But seriously, home taping did kill music. This is merely its prolonged wake.
