Now as y'all know I have been doing this feature for awhile and I would not have missed announcing this on the 14th had it been reported as such. So I will say the change is questionable and report it today. Either way this masterpiece is deserving of being featured.)
Anyway, there ya go! 2 classics and 2 important anniversaries!
What do you good people think of these albums? Let us know! Discuss it, yo!

Oh. Wow. Time to express love.
The first time I've listened to New Order's album, I was like "Well, that's OK, but that's all. Just bland 80's synth-pop." What a mistake. I re-listened to it a few weeks later, and it was an explosion of colors and joy. I puked rainbows. Catchiness and sweet synth/guitars everywhere, it's lovable. And at the same time, it manages to be counterbalanced by some darker and slower songs, which still flow perfectly well in the middle of the upbeat ones. The only flaw I could find it is the fact that those darker songs, while maintaining the album's diversity, are slightly inferior to the dynamic parts.
As for Public Enemy, it was the second hip hop album I've ever listened to (about eight months ago, I'd say), seeing it was hugley acclaimed and wanting to delve deeper into this genre. I was really disappointed. It wasn't at all my idea of a good hip hop record. It did not flow at all, it was the opposite of smooth. It was angry, the rhythms were hard, and it smetimes was even dissonant. After a few more listens, I gave up. Later, I listened to Ready To Die, which was my first hip hop love (and still is my favorite, though I might be biased). I listened to more hip hop and, one day, I was like "What if I listened to that Public Enemy record again?" Best idea ever. Everything which before seemed unlistenable and boring, this time seemed to fit perfectly. I think I have yet to hear an album which contains so much genuine anger. Scaruffi compared it to MC5; I love punk, but these guys aren't even close to Public Enemy.
...OK. I guess that's all. I voted for PE, but I broke my heart having to choose. Probably the best music birthday so far.

Wow! Great post drakomium! Yeah, I voted for PE because well I have never heard that New Order album. I know I should as it is totally a classic.
But that Public Enemy album was so surprising to me when I listened to it! It sounded so noisy and loud as hell! And yes, one of the best purely angry albums you'll here! I put this alongside the Sex Pistols debut in terms of abbrassive pissed off vigor!
The affects of This album are also still evident today. Just their ability to alter sounds to make them fit a beat and take sounds and make them sound nasty and rhythmic and enraged was so gorgeous.
I think it's interesting the amount of interesting innovation that was occurring in music in that era (mid to late 80s) in the area of incorporating NOISE and just seemingly dis related sounds into music and also using just feedback and distortion in rock! I mean you had Tom Waits doing his strange things and you had Jesus and The Mary Chain and My bloody Valentine and and Fugazi and of course Sonic Youth and of course this album and Paul's Boutique etc! It was an overlooked era of great development in hip hop and rock. _________________ -Ryan
