Tallahassee is better than anything else here, and that's not to say there aren't a lot of stuff I think is absolutely fantastic on the other team (Bizarre Ride II, Slanted & Enchanted) also it's supplemented by EL-P and Board of Canada as well as a strong singles team.
Oooooooh Horsepower Productions yay yay yay. Still undecided ('92 is stacked), but thank you for using In Fine Style - hopefully more people will hear it now. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
While '92 has the highs - Slanted & Enchanted (the best album by far, Gowi ( )) & SAWI and that Melvins single ' "Night Goat", 2002 is more consistently brilliant. Great albums and singles across the board.
Yet another really great matchup. 1992 contains three albums I adore - Slanted & Enchanted, Selected Ambient Works, and Bizarre Ride - but two that I couldn't care less about. It also has the three best singles here - 'Real Love', 'Scenario', 'Night Goat', in that order - but the utterly intolerable 'Jeremy'. 2002 is full of albums I like a lot, but only one that I love as much as those three from the 1992 team (In Fine Style, which everybody should check out ASAP). That said, Geogaddi and FanDam aren't too far behind, whilst Tallahassee is also excellent, and Finally We Are No One is a lovely listen too. Singles-wise, there's nothing less than good, but only 'The Whole World' is even remotely close to those three aforementioned 1992 singles.
Voting 1992, just. Those highs are good enough to beat the consistency of 2002. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
The 92 team is once again full of both masterpieces and some greatly underwhelming-to-brrrr releases. Slanted, Selected Ambient Works and Bizare Ride II are all top of the pops, but the other two are really really not (and I have to say Im shocked and a bit stung not to see Dry throughout all these matches (even with the first round confusion) especially in comparision to that pair- but Jher Bear's probably doing cart-wheels in response). And again four of those singles are absolutely stellar, but I don't ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVERRRRRRRRRRRR want to hear "Jeremy" again. So again 92 has it's weakness but it's strengths are absolutely super-human.
2002 on the other hand is a good team but nothing really stands out too much. Geogaddi is very good but Im not as high on BoC as some here (but still a good-to-occasionally-brilliant release regardless), Finally We Are No One is quite relaxing and at times beautiful, Tallahasse is another good-and-occasionally-great release, and I remember hearing Fantastic Damage awhile back but thought nothing of it, maybe need a re-visit. I haven't heard Horsepower yet but Skinny never dissapoints with his #bowdown seal of approval so Ill give it a shot before voting. Again the singles team is quite good (a bit surprised Neon Golden didn't make an appearence on the album side though) but nothing remotely on par with those four great 92 singles (although again it doesn't have Jeremy).
So overall better high quality in 92 by far but with some very low lows and 02 is pretty solid top to bottom but nothing that really grabs me personally. Will still give Horsepower a listen but likely going 92.
(and I have to say Im shocked and a bit stung not to see Dry throughout all these matches (even with the first round confusion) especially in comparision to that pair- but Jher Bear's probably doing cart-wheels in response).
Just in case I made it to the next round (wishful thinking, it seems) I had to save some quality saved... _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.
