I absolutely love this album. It might be my favorite metal album after Paranoid. Every track great with the exception of Dawn Patrol. This is by far my favorite album to play on guitar. Hangar 18, Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls, Lucretia, it is undeniable how great the guitar playing is on this album. The riffs are as top notch as anything Mustaine has ever done, and Marty's solos are out of this world. Possibly my favorite metal guitar player of all time.
Some would argue that Chris Poland (the guitarist on the first two Megadeth albums) is a better player than Marty. I think Chris might have a better tone to his playing, but in terms of writing distinct solos, Marty wins it for me. Chris does those super fast runs, and he does them flawlessly, but that is practically all he does. Marty is much more melodic in his soloing, and uses a variety of cool sounding scales and bending techniques to really give each of his solos a unique and distinct sound. Both are great players, but I prefer Marty Definitely an essential if you are into metal.

Yeah, this album rules. Megadeth's best for sure, all though I LOVE all their stuff from the 80s.

The best moments (Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners, Fucking Tornado of Souls) on this album are monumental to Megadeth and the entire metal genre. And while this is a great record overall, and it's on my top 100 chart, the middle of this album has always been disappointing and somewhat messy to me. Tracks 1-3 are legendary, tracks 7-9 are bad as hell, but then 4-6 never interest me, I don't like Mustaine's writing on them.
Overall a landmark heavy metal album, but now that I think about it, Countdown is probably more consistent from top to bottom. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

"Hangar 18" is one of my favorite songs of all time. No amount of Dave's unbearable Alex Jones fundiedom can take away the majesty of that riff.
