How's that? I don't find this album to be very foreboding.

I guess I have this weird connection to this album, since I was born a couple days before it was released. So even though I've known the album for a few years now, it feels like I've known it my whole life - like some kind of long lost sibling of some sorts. I could say that about any other album from 1997, but between those two dates it feels kind of intrinsic, so whenever it hits a milestone it puts my own life into perspective and makes me realise that, like with this piece of art, I'm also faced with the wear and tear that the effect of time can have and how I could crumble at any moment. It's a pretty freaky and almost incomprehensible experience for me.

Also, while the music is not necessarily foreboding, it does have some scary moments on it (like with some of the bass lines and songs that are deafly loud and abrasive).

This is exactly how I feel about In The Aeroplane Over The Sea and on occasion; Mark Hollis' debut. Seeing as they both came out within less than a fortnight of when I was born. That's probably why I rate In The Aeroplane Over The Sea that high. Especially so lately because my mind's divided between trying hard to focus and appreciate what's in front of me and impeding me from doing so because I'm constant contemplating my own demise and the demise of those around me. It's a very disconnecting mindset.
