My favorite album from The Decemberists. Maybe not as focused as The Crane Wife or The Hazards of Love, but a real spoil of riches.

Track picks
4. The Sporting Life
8. The Engine Driver
9. On The Bus Mall
11. Of Angels And Angles

This genre sure is popular on this site.
Indie-folk just like Neutral Milk Hotel & Modest Mouse. All highly rated bands but quite unknown to me until I started scouring best albums lists..
I also don't know (m)any people that know these bands here in Belgium. Is it an American thingy? Smile (though it sounds like it has roots in Irish music.. ) (Is that a gurdy-hurdy I hear in 'the Bagman's Gambit' : )

A shame those folkies always like to sing in such a harsh and loud voice (also the case in European folk..)
