I found this right after my first heartbreak at 16, and I couldn't have asked for anything better. I'm sad, because I don't really love albums anymore the way I loved the ever-loving shit out of For Emma, Forever Ago. While I prefer the more ambitious albums that came out of this literal miracle of a record, this one has a place in my heart few other records ever will.

2. Lump Sum

Very winter sounding. Sometimes it sounds perfect, sometimes I think the middle section is a bit boring.
Flume, Skinny Love, For Emma and Re: Stacks are all amazingly beautiful songs. _________________ All time

A trend-setter that's over a decade old by now. The trend survives as fodder for the NPR crowd, but the Jessica Pratts of the world have a gloss that seems to keep their listeners at arms length. By now we know that a musician needs more than a hushed voice and gobs of echo to acheive an intimate connection with us, but For Emma makes it easy to forget this...
