I remember hating this album for so long. I was so sick of Vampire Weekend and their upbeat Paul Simon-isms. But after its rapturous response that carried to the end of the year, I revisited it and slowly, surely came around. It's now one of my all-time favorites.

Track picks
1. Obvious Bicycle
2. Unbelievers
3. Step
6. Hannah Hunt

After their sophmore record, Contra, Vampire Weekend wanted to take a more adventurous and experimental sound, but without compromising their unique style. It took 3 years for the band to release what is regarded as their best record; Modern Vampires Of The City. This is an excellent album, and even though i love their debut and i kinda think both records are at the same level, i have to give MVOFTC a lot of credit, because i think that this thing has the best material Vampire Weekend has ever done. The production it's better this time around, you can feel it can get a litte bit dark from time to time, especially in the track "Hudson" which has some pretty haunting choirs combined with a lot of wierd sounds, you will also hear sweet and memorable songs like the opening track "Obvious Bicycle" or "Hannah Hunt" or even songs like the fast-paced rocky-sounding "Diane Young". It's atmospheric, it's catchy and the songwriting is great.

Pick Tracks:
-Obvious Bicycle
-Step
-Hannah Hunt

Just listened to this album a few days ago, for the first time in 2019 and maybe also 2018. I agree that its production is fantastic and it has some unique songs in it.
Favourites: Ya Hey, Hannah Hunt, Unbelievers
