This thread is kinda disappointing...a whole lot of poor to pretty good albums being listed as great...

I'm glad you said it first; I couldn't agree more.

The only right answer I see nowhere: Ma-fucking-donna.
'80s: became the biggest female artist with a style everyone copied, and popularized remix albums with her You Can Dance remix album.
'90s: Erotica (do I have to explain? It changed the scene), and Ray of Light was great too.
'00s: made dance pop great again. Usually that's younger artists doing that bringing back styles of 20 years ago; she just did it herself.
Since the '10s her music has been shit, and I guess her '00s releases haven't been as spectacular as her '90s and '80s run, but I really don't know any other artists who have kept on being relevant for such a long time. I mean a lot of the recommendations I see here are okay, but who listens Radiohead in the '10s except their fanbase? Or NIN, or Aphex Twin, or Rolling Stones in the '80s, except for a hit or two that sound like they wanna cash in on nostalgia? And then there are also suggestions that make me laugh out loud, or that make me shout "WHO?!" All respect to the man, but David Bowie's '80s and '90s albums were consistently shit.
