Despite black metal's extreme nature, if it's at a low volume it's a great style of music to fall alseep to. I typically play one of the following before bed if I need extreme music:

I'd much rather take melatonin. I'd be upset about missing the end of an album, and I'd be too focused on the music to drift off anyway. I also don't listen to music while I work if the task requires any brainpower.
