The Rh album with least pretentious fans. It is a total mix bag with complete terrible tracks (Backdrifts, Sit Down Stand Up) to decent-good tunes (Go To Sleep, Myxomatosis) to some of the band's best material (2+2=5, Sail To The Moon, A Wolf At The Door, I Will). Overall it does lack replay value from top to bottom, but it is still quite a good album, nothing more.

RIP Meat Loaf.

sit down. stand up.
backdrifts.

just goes to show how subjective this game is. everyone hears music at a such different angles. to me, these are amazing tracks.

the only thing this album really lacks for me is flow. it feels like two horses pulling in opposite directions - one galloping off the edge towards kid a/amnesiac (the gloaming, we suck young'ns, where i end and you begin, sit down/stand up, etc.) and the other sprinting back towards the rockier foundation of ok computer (a wolf at the door, 2 + 2 = 5, sail to the moon, scatterbrain, etc.).

but legit, three of my top ten radioheads are on this'ne:
  • scatterbrain
  • there, there
  • where i end and you begin

To me, this is their third-best album, behind The Bends and OK Computer. That said, "Wolf At the Door" is the only song on it that would make my Top Five (or even Top Ten) list of best Radiohead songs.

Not much else I can say about it, other than that it came out in 2003 during one of the worst periods of my life — and despite the fact that I liked the record, it didn't exactly cheer me up all that much.

I really don't like "We Suck Young Blood", "The Gloaming", "Myxomatosis", or "Scatterbrain". Without them, Hail To The Thief would have been yet another perfect Radiohead album.

I stood in vomit at the Hollywood Bowl for this tour.

Great album - at times it's my favorite because it's so different compared to their other albums. Different in good ways too.
