Well, it's not as good as Parklife and most Blur fans seem to agree on that, but if you ask me "The Universal" is the best song they ever recorded.

Also, "Best Days" and "Yuko and Hiro" are at least as good as anything on Parklife.

What a great way to wrap their Britpop escapade (no pun intended) up offering us a last batch of super catchy yet socially conscious songs before entering a more ambitious and arguably more interesting phase.

I just listened to this 2 days ago because it is such a great summer album. Stereotypes are like my favorite song ever, and the remaining (with the exception of the snoozefest Entertain Me) keeps the momentum and heat going through. Blur rocks

For a "strike while the iron's hot" album, it's still remarkably solid. To be honest, I think it's as good as Parklife, and considered them both more of a double-album pair rather than The Great Escape being a sort of sequel.

He Thought Of Cars, Best Days, Stereotypes, Country House, The Universal... some of their best songs are among this tracklist.

Though I prefer what Blur did after this album, The Great Escape and Parklife are peak Brit-Pop, in my opinion.
