Some of Lennon's best work coupled with a few duds, but overall a brilliant album. Obviously the title track has been absolutely played to death and co-opted by every celebrity and teenager who wants to seem introspective with minimal effort, but trying to take it out of that context, it's a beautiful song and definitely one of Lennon's best.

Also one of Lennon's best - Jealous Guy. It's interesting seeing the path the song took lyrically, as it pops up in the Peter Jackson Beatles documentary and on a few deluxe editions (I think it's on the Fly on the Wall thing from Let It Be Naked), and the original lyrics were way different than what it ended up being, and for the better if you ask me. It's very vulnerable and honest and I think sort of the start of Lennon coming to grips with what a shithead he was to women for many years.

So two brilliant Lennon songs, some other really good ones like Oh Yoko and Crippled Inside, and then you've got stuff like How Do You Sleep which is a pretty meh attempt at a Paul diss track, and I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier, which is fine but goes on a little too long.

Still, I do love this album, and it's probably the second-best one Lennon ever put out on his own behind Plastic Ono Band

I never really took to Imagine. I loved the title song when I was younger but now I just find it sad.
I enjoy the songs Oh Yoko and Jealous Guy.
I much prefer his Plastic Ono Band debut album.
That is a banger.
