- Post subject: BestEver Track Ratings
|
Just curious, after looking through the ratings of individual tracks on hundreds of albums, I am wondering what the criteria is for a song to be considered a "best ever" or "top rated" and receive that little gold star... It seems most songs/albums rated higher than 86 overall receive this distinction EXCEPT for the albums that are higher rated and probably more deserving. Every song on Is This It by the Strokes has a rating over 85. And all received nearly, or over, 400 votes each but only has 3 "top rated tracks". There are five songs on Abbey Road that are rated 90 or above, and so on etc... What gives? Is there an album limit? Is it like a hand-curated selection? It says "voted by site members" but if that were truly the case there would be more songs with gold stars. Just a thought.

I think it's 85.5 and above, and there's only three "top-rated" tracks allowed per album, cause otherwise, for example, 9/10 songs on "Kid A" would be top-rated, and that would kind of deem the whole thing pointless.

It's also extremely biased, so track ratings are only good relative to other tracks on that album and possibly some other album from the same artist. _________________ All time

Really - I didn't think it compared to other tracks on the album? I thought it was just if it was above 85.5 (or whatever)?

this.
Track picks are just meant as a quick way for people to identify the top-rated tracks on a particular album so only the three top-rated tracks are highlighted. (Only tracks with an average rating greater than 85 are highlighted, so some albums will have less than three track picks).
