This could be fun. Although I never loved Motown albums like I to the likes of Floyd or Zep, I do love lots of motown singles.

(btw, nice job including "Machine Gun"! One of my favorite instrumentals and a hidden gem in the early Commodores catalog)

Papa Was a Rollin' Stone - Temptations
Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder
I Just Want to Celebrate - Rare Earth
Machine Gun - Commodores
Nowhere To Run - Martha & The Vandellas
Reach Out, I'll Be There - Four Tops
Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
Bernadette - Four Tops
I'll Be Around - Spinners
Smiling Faces Sometimes - Undisputed Truth

Ain't No Woman Like the One I've Got - Four Tpps
Reflections - Supremes
(Love Is Like a) Heat Wave - Martha & The Vandellas
Superstition - Heat Wave
You Can't Hurry Love - Supremes
This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak For You) - Isley Brothers
Tears of a Clown - Smokey Robinson
Get Ready - Rare Earth
Could It Be I'm Falling in Love - Spinners
Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder

Upside Down - Diana Ross
Stop in the name of love- The Supremes

I love Motown for these songs. The best possible music for a night out.

I so wanted to put Smiling Faces Sometimes. I tried to keep it in mind but then I forgot in the end. I also forgot I Want You Back by Jackson 5. And Papa Was a Rolling Stone, and Ain't No Woman, and Love Machine by The Miracles. So many I just forgot. Damn.

Have any of you seen the documentary they made about the Funk Brothers (must be about 10 years old)? I really liked it and it was what got me interested in Motown. Really cool to think it was the same guys playing on all those hits and no-one knew about them at the time. Same thing with the band at Muscle Shoals, but I don't think they played on quite as many hits as the Funk Brothers.
