Van Halen
Their early albums were always patchy, for me, but had that spark of genius, that “Lightning in a bottle” chemistry (moreso in the performances than in the songwriting). From Sammy Hagar on, they probably made more consistent records, but lost that spark of genius, for me (althoogh, I quite like 5150).

Everything Now legit made me think less of Arcade Fire.
And anything Big Boi's done since his 2010 album has been reeeeeaallllly bad.
And probably lots more. But those stand out right now. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

Everything Now did loose steam, but ended growing up on me (I hated it at first). I think the Creature Comfort and Electric Blue were gateways.
I liked the single of All Night from Big Boi, but yes quality done gone down.

What I'm gleaming from this thread is that nearly every artist tanks and disappoints... or dies early.
At first I thought it was going to be a list of Oasis albums.

Yeah, everyone has duds. It's all good. If something's not amazing from an artist who previously released something amazing, whatever. Best to keep expectations at 0, no matter what. Never heard anything bad enough to make me jump out a window though, pause button is usually closer. Or a door. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

Great question.
It's not great, but for example, I actually thought a Bigger Bang by the Rolling Stones in 2005 wasn't too bad... it was an enjoyable listen at least. Nothing amazing, but worth a listen.
Sometimes (not always) the worst effort by a great artist is still better than the best effort of a mediocre artist.
