the skinny with riverside is they are the premier prog metal band in the alternative metal scene. they much like DSC have filled the void Tool left when they stopped making good albums and music in general. if tool ain't really your thing they will be a pass.

That's interesting, because I found this album to be significantly more interesting and enjoyable than Tool's more acclaimed work.
As to my vote, going with the flawed but enjoyable rendition of genres I'm a big fan of, instead of the very well-done rendition of genres I'm not.
if this catches your attention, check out some of riverside's earlier albums such as Rapid Eye Movement, Second Life Syndrome, and Anno Domini High Definition.
