Strangely enough, I think Ive heard Strange Condition more times than I've heard Wake Up and it's still my favourite of these two. I just love that kind of jangly guitar pop when it's done well. I considered nominating "Just Another" from the same album. I find it one of the most perfectly written ballads of that era.

Anyway, it's surprisingly poised at 8-8 Shocked

There are at least half a dozen Arcade Fire songs I'd be more enthused about than this one, but it's a great track either way. The Pete Yorn song was quite nice, but not nice enough.

Totally. Just Another is a great song too. I knew I wanted to nominate a Pete Yorn song when I decided to participate in this. I considered each of the first three tracks. I went with Strange Condition because it was nice middle-ground between the catchy/fast-paced 'Life on a Chain' and the slow/ballady 'Just Another.' But really, 6 of the first 7 tracks are amazing.

Again though, this first round match-up is bullshit.
