The all-time chart contains roughly the same selections as other sites, maybe because there are certain albums that have become canonical, and tend to crop up everywhere, and of course this site is in English, so you might expect a bit of bias. Even so, there are plenty of nationalities represented amongst the members here. I think the more interesting picks are on the individual charts, and I'm sure you'd find plenty of charts amongst these that you'd relate to more closely.

In the top 1000:

528 USA
354 UK
29 Canada
16 Australia
15 Ireland

That's about 94.2%. As far as I can tell, the vast majority of the members here are from those countries... The real question should be more directed at attracting more members from non-English speaking countries. So they can expose more music foreign to us English-speakers, and help give a more worldly variety to the overall chart.

IMO, this might be the best thing about the site. It's less about the overall consensus. I think we all have different opinions on the best albums. Personally, I prefer to research my favorite albums here and see who else has them included in their chart. I may find someone else's chart that has similar music tastes to mine, and then learn about more albums through that. It has been a wonderful system for me.

Probably not, because she technically can't feature in the "best albums ever", as she wasn't an "album" artist, but she still is Portugal's best known singer.

But the "we don't get much compilations in charts around here" argument doesnt really stand up: Bob Marley's "Legend" appears on 131 charts.

Well it's probably because most of the users on this site speak English as their primary language and lyrics are kind of a major consideration. If we can't understand the lyrics, it's harder to evaluate the music.

Also, sorry our website bores you.

Piaf hit her peak before the album format took off, Can is well beloved on this site and for chiding me over never having heard of a goddamn flamenco artist.

You know, after this comment I went to check your chart, expecting to see plenty of non-english entries. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed
