I'm on buckets of amphetamines right now. I also took courses in astrophysics, and have a cousin who is obtaining her PhD in this very field. So I have both the drugs and expertise needed for this question.
Ok, so, being in space, you will not be pitch black. You know all those lights you're seeing? All those stars? Their light is reflecting off of you. You'll be able to see yourself quite clearly. And a small human floating in space will not block out some hundred million stars (perhaps at close range - for example, YOU wouldn't be able to see the stars because your friend is in the way, but to distant planets they'd still be visible, your floating friend would be less than a speck on them).

It would be the same as being in a pitch black field. You would only be able to see your hand once you put it against the stars.
