TWOD being so high is confusing, they never particularly stood out to me.

Also lol @ the NME list, I forgot La Roux even released an album this year.

I'd be well up for contributing a top 20 list.

Also, how many cocks did The War On Drugs have to suck for these placings?

...Mark Kozelek???

LOL... mark invited them to suck his dick, but looking at these charts, they kicked his ass instead.

mark has created some of my all-time favorite music, but he does seem unfortunately skilled at pissing poeple off sometimes.

Do people really think Sleaford Mods is top #10 worthy? It's like when everyone praised Art Brut years ago only to forget them right after.

I recced someone Brilliant! Tragic! like yesterday, and "Lost Weekend" is one of my most played songs ever on iTunes.

I'd like to see both. Think it would be an interesting thing to compare.

This ^

Also, of my current top 5 (though I'm editing my chart today as Amos the Transparent's relisten value is really next to nothing), the only one that even has a shot of making any of these lists is Nobody Wants To Be Here And Nobody Wants To Leave, and I feel like most people haven't even noticed Twilight Sad put out an album this year :/

Yikes, these charts are looking pretty weak and coming out far too early. Beck has absolutely no place topping an AOTY list in 2014, and I also agree with the general forum consensus on TWOD. I didn't expect to be seeing Palace of Wind or Atomos everywhere, but I'm pretty sad to see absolutely no mentions of like, A U R O R A or Ought in most of these lists. Plus only a tiny bit of Liars throughout.

And I'm starting to feel like the only person who liked Plowing Into the Field of Love as much as I did.

I'm quite happy he's not higher up on our list, that really was just a very average release.

Uncut: Don't like it.

NME: Let themselves down badly.

Q: Indie yet classy.

Mojo: Very good. My favorite.

American Songwriter: World's apart from me.

Rough Trade: Unique to point it seems like... just one persons favorite list? I'm assuming more than one person made it.

Great first post Smile I was sure the year was ending and I like it when these come out.

Not so much love for Lazaretto, I thought it would be a critical darling...

Nothing I've listened to, released in 2014, has turned my crank.

This

Some great albums but I couldnt fall in love with any of them.

And all where did all the love for The War on Drugs came from? It's good album, but pretty boring at times

Yes. I suggest using The Voice - Pazz and Jop's format:
...for ranking albums, you'll have 100 points to divide among
your Top 10 picks, with each entry receiving no more than 30 or less than 5.
If you rank fewer than 10 albums, just subtract 5 points from your 100 total
for each blank. If you'd rather not rank individually, just assign 10 points
per record. All miscomputations will be corrected in-house, to the detriment
of your top-ranked records first.

I've contributed to Pazz and Jop for year's and this format is really great. And if everyone would rather supply a top 20, we could expand the points to 200 to be dividied

This sounds great!

I missed this but rather like the idea. Let's do it! Once the year's really over, at least!
