Vinyl? I'd rather listen to a heavily compressed mp3, thanks.

A lot of my chart is canon fodder so it's relatively easy to get a lot of it on vinyl. One that eludes me is a new copy of Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde in stereo. All the copies I see in record stores are in mono. Now mono can be good but I want to hear it in stereo.

Surprised by that - could swear I saw a stereo copy in Snupeas when I was last there before Xmas and would have thought the stereo CBS ‘sunburst’ 70s repress shouldn’t be too rare to track down. It’s one of those LPs I often keep an eye out for (but only the 60s original with the walking eye label), but I’ve never seen it in a reasonable condition at a reasonable price to make me pull the trigger.

Likewise Confused

It's not even the price really (I've seen it go anywhere from $30-60 CAD), but I've yet to see a copy in decent shape. They're always really buggered up and torn and whatnot...

Being said, Stover, there's a stereo repress of Blonde on Blonde going for €15 at Fnac. I can't recall 100% if they're in the UK or not, but it shouldn't be tooooo hard to snag a copy.

And here's me, yet to own Pet Sounds on vinyl, pathetic. As far as my top 100 goes, def gotta get on that as well as Pastel Blues, Colossal Youth and Remain In Light... all easy enough. Also gotta work on swapping my CD of Post out for a record eventually...

Thinking of passing up on a vinyl copy of Arca due to the fact the gatefold is his asshole d'oh! like, why Arca? Why?

It looks like the trio of doom album will be a little pricey for me on vinyl. There were a couple on my list i had to pay a little bit for but that one and sunshine daydream my number one are both VERY pricey. $300+ American for all of the ones i found listed on ebay or amazon. Again on vinyl much cheaper on cd which i already have for both.

I used to own it all on vinyl until a natural disaster and associated water damage destroyed my collection.
The subsequent move to a new location saw the demise of my turntable as well.

Most has been replaced on CD. I haven't chased much of the rest as I my acquisitions today are mostly focused on new discoveries.

So no dice Sad.

Good luck!

I just got rid of all my vinyl. I'm sad. I had almost half of them.

I only have 30% on vinyl while I have most of it on CD in some form (sometimes box sets). Don't bother with playing vinyl much any more -- my turntable's buried under stacks of CDs.

Been some time since I posted in this thread and it’s about time it was resurrected, especially for any newer members who might want to join in. As well as the fact that - pause for breath (and even after rejigging my overall) - I might have finally achieved my goal after 3 years of collecting. More to follow...

‘Bout time Jim...what took you so long? Wink

Well done mate but I’m sure it won’t be long until you put some impossibly hard to find record back in your top 100!!!

i’m still missing Mojave 3’s excuses for travellers to re-complete my top 100 although I did hear a rumour 4AD might be reissuing all their albums, so fingers crossed for that.

Also now just 4 short of completing my next hundred although 3 of those 4 are currently well out of my price range.
