As far as Pitchfork is concerned, I think it's going to be Carrie & Lowell. That being said, if you wanted to pick an album that defined the year 2015, To Pimp a Butterfly is really the only correct answer. Still, I'm thinking they'll surprise us. Last year's Run the Jewels 2 felt somewhat like an unexpected choice. So, who knows?

I really like In Colour but people would freak if it got Pitchfork AOTY.

It's gonna be Kendrick. As has been mentioned already, the fact that it would be the first time an artist has gotten two AOTYs is the main reason to hesitate here, along with disrupting the Rock-Rap-Rock-Rap-Rock-Rap pattern they've had since '09.

Kamasi, Sufjan, Sleater-Kinney, Barnett, Jamie xx, Miguel, Deafheaven, Tame Impala will be among the Top 10, along with perhaps Holter, Vile, Deerhunter or Newson. The latter I have not listened to BUT they are Pitchfork favs so I'm sure some amongst them will make an appearance.

Grimes has multiple songs on her album that are diss tracks against Pitchfork. I wouldn't expect to see her break the Top 20.

I would have said that this year is a year that could have had a female AOTY recipient but none have yet to break 9.0 this year so it's rather unlikely.

All just my opinion, obviously.

I have not heard the Where All is Field album by Steve Hauschildt but the first few sentences of their review really make me want to

Quote:
Remember Pokemon Emerald? That was a good game. You play as Steve Hauschildt and your rival is called Mark McGuire; Professor Oak is also there, struggling to listen to drone.

Typically the kind of chart I want to see: I know next to nothing on it. Cheers.
