Indeed, he played that Jazz bass I showed earlier, but he would play with only the bridge pickup so it would be mostly the mids and very little lows. Phenomenal player.

Mark Sandman of Morphine had this unique laid-back soft sliding bass playing style that I've always enjoyed. Plus Morphine was a band without a guitar, which made him stand out as the absolute driving force behind their music.

The bari sax on Buena is some cool "bass" as well . That track has always just been amazing to me. Thanks for sharing the list. I own Cure for Pain and liked listening to it a few times, but hadn't really gotten much further into them... I think this playlist might help me get more into them.
I had no idea that was bass... I guess he used a slide to get different sounds out of it... pretty damn cool.

He did, and it was a 2-string bass @seth, you may want to watch this interview with Sandman where he discusses a lot of technical aspects related to his bass playing.
