That's a pretty short list. Not sure if it was intentional. Feel free to edit at any point if you like. If not that's cool too. Enjoy your quirky picks. Never would have expected to see WC Fields on here but he was quite good. And I really love Melvyn Douglas.

Speaking of short lists, maybe someone who's hosted before can help me understand something. Aren't the lists normally weighted based on size? If so what's the proper method for weighing? Like if I'm giving 50 points for #1 and 1 point for #50, what do I do for a top 25? 25-1? 50-26? Something else?

Anywho.

Yeah, I weighted lists based on size Confused It's easiest (perhaps not fairest, but otherwise I would've gone insane).

So, like, a top 25 would have #1 being worth 25 points and #25 being worth 1. #1 on a list of 7 would be worth 7, etc...

Do it however you want, but that's the method I used.

I also used that method for the Sci-Fi and Fantasy polls. Like he said, it's not as fair, but it's way easier. Plus it encourages participants to max out their lists. But yeah for FelixC's list, which is 33 actors, I would count Oldman as 33 points and work my way down. Seriously, which is easier: using the method Hayden and I used, or coming up with a different weighting method (or FelixC naming 17 more actors)?

More great lists. Just some thoughts:

I guess most people haven't watched many Garbo films? Kinda sad she's not on many lists. Get the box set from WB. Cost me a hundred bucks when it came out 10+ years ago but I've seen it going for cheap lately. Worth every penny. Talk about commanding the screen, she was simply the best.

Yeah it's weird. I watch a lot of classics but somehow I've eluded Garbo. According to my letterboxd, I've only seen one movie of hers (Ninotchka). Whereas I've seen 9-12 from both Hepburns, Stanwyck, and Bacall. I'll have to get on Garbo's filmography.

For all you Jennifer Lawrence fans (I'm a fan too but I'm with whoever it was who has trouble ranking young stars highly for the most part), what are your thoughts on "mother!"? I haven't got around to it yet but it seems to be getting Antichrist/A Serbian Film level ratings where it's either a masterpiece or a nonsensical disaster depending on who you ask, but absolutely nothing in between. I'm sure that means I'll love it Laughing

Haha, yeah that was me:

But as you can see, I put Emma Stone and J-Law on my list at #32 and #43. I loved mother! One of the best movies of the year. The content is bizarre, appalling, and illogical on the surface. But remember it's Aronofsky symbolism.

I was in a hurry so that's why it was so short. I didn't know we were supposed to rank them in order. Because mine aren't in any particular order. Are we supposed to rank them in order?

Yeah, the order effects where they land on the final list.

Yeah, definitely. Unless stated otherwise I assume the top name is your #1. So if you want to go back and jumble the names around a bit as well as add a few more names you're good. Like I said, I haven't calculated anything yet so no worries. Even if I do decide to get an early start counting I'll have an easy method of fixing things if anyone wants to edit their list.

Your method is just fine. It makes the most sense logically. I'm cool with doing it that way, just thought I'd check to make sure I was doing the regular thing.

I'm glad I found out that we should rank them in order. I went back and re-did mine because it was nothing close to being in order.
And I finished my actors list.

I think I've only seen 3 Greta Garbo movies. And for some reason I just don't know her well enough. I liked Ninotchka and Anna Christie. And I think I've seen Camille but I don't remember it that well. I'm going to have to check her out again. I know she only has a handful of movies, so it shouldn't take too long to catch up.

Yeah, I think WC Fields was great. I enjoy him as much as anybody else I've ever seen. I was a little disappointed not to see more comedy stars on people's lists. Like Mae West, Margaret Dumont, W.C. Fields etc. But I'm glad to see a few Charlie Chaplins and Buster Keatons.
