Now we get into Round 3. Three out of four albums have been eliminated; what's left is the Sweet Sixteen.
First up, Country Life, by Roxy Music.

Country Life by Roxy Music
In the first round, Country Life took out Graham Central Station by a wide margin. In the second round, it squeaked by the heavily supported Heart of Saturday Night
Personally, I'm going to have to listen to both albums again before I decide this one. Today it matches up against The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, by Genesis.
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway by Genesis
It beat Bluegrass album Old Train in the first round. The second round matchup with You's Gong (should that be Your Gong?) centered around a discussion of Boring and Pretentious and how those terms apply to the two albums in question. Anyway, Genesis carried the day.
Also, just to mention, it's currently ranked #1 on BEA's 1974 chart. Now, it has not been a sure thing for BEA's favorites. Of the top 10 on BEA's chart three were eliminated in the first round, including #3, Crime of the Century. Three more were eliminated in the second round, and one is in a race that's too close to call. But this is an elimination tournament, and that's what we do. We'll see who survives to round 4.

Country Life is one of my lesser favorites of the Roxy discog, so as bloated as Lamb is, it's getting my vote here _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Really?!?! Interesting. One of my faves. Would love to see your ranking at some point. I felt Roxy could do no wrong over their first five albums and then love Avalon as a completely different animal. I love Ferry's solo work too though so I may just be a bit rabid. LOL.

It's certainly no knock on Country Life. I quite like it, and own it on vinyl (and it's a censored edition so I don't even get to enjoy seeing the babes on the cover).
I'd probably rank them as so:
For Your Pleasure
Stranded
Avalon
Country Life
Roxy Music
Siren
Manifesto
Flesh + Blood
haven't listened to those last 2 in a while _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Country Life, when it comes to the cover...the rest is all to the Lamb... _________________ "And can’t you see you’re in on it?

Compress the best bits of Lamb Lies Down on Broadway to one record, its best 45 minutes are still not as good as Country Life. Vote to Roxy.

These albums have drawn some weak competition to this point, so I'd take most of the other third rounders over both. Went with Lamb, but I would be disappointed if either won the tourney.
