Maucat wrote: | If you haven't see The Lamb live you cannot understand totally his potential. Probably the best Genesis work, progressive rock at his best. Songs like "In the cage", "Carpet crawlers", "Riding the scree", "The cahmber of 32 doors", "Anyway", "The Lamia" and "Fly on the windshiled" are masterpieces that after 40 years are still unreached... --March, 2014 |

But I guess that's why I love them. Unlike other bands, Sparks don't play it safe. My personal fave, Kimono My House, sounds like a marriage of showtunes, prog, and some futuristic genre not yet discovered. --April 2013 |
Goodsir wrote: | In my opinion, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is the greatest concept record ever created. With one of the most unique stories I've ever heard, this album is utterly masterful. It also displays Genesis at their instrumental theatrical high points. All I can say about this record is that you really have to listen to it yourself. The Gabriel-era Genesis really went out with a bang.--December 2013 |
Jorbaa wrote: | [Sparks] is the most quality fun band ever. their lyircs are filled with puns and fun. The music is uplifting and puts a smile on your face. Some material is serious and that is where you realize that they make great quality music. Not all albums are equally good, but their discography is one of the most amazing and diverse ever. --April 2014 |

I'd take both Peace & Love and Rock Bottom over either of these in a heartbeat. That said, I much prefer Kimono My House to anything I've heard by Genesis, so it's an easy decision for me. But neither of these should make it to the final. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Sparks, easily. But yeah, the other matchup is much more compelling.

I'll throw a vote Genesis' way. The Sparks album is very good as well, but I'll always have a soft spot for Gabriel. That said, Lamb is easily the weakest of their famous trilogy. Strangely enough, I think it's their most song-oriented record: some tracks on it are just stunning, but as a whole, it's too long and uneven. Also I don't give a fuck about the plot.

Sparks simply because it is the more fun of the two. Both are gaudy, overindulgent, and unworthy of making it as far as they have for my tastes.
