In this over-consuming era of female musicians making downtempo, brooding, trip-hop inspired records *cough*lorde, banks, london grammar, lana del rey*cough* its refreshing to actually hear something truly captivating.
What FKA Twigs manages do to (that her contemporaries dont) is write songs with purpose and direction, as opposed to another 5+ min track of hushed vocals and a never ending loop of background samples.
Whilst at first they may seem no different to the music from those aforementioned artists, tracks like "Two Weeks" and "Pendulum" do eventually open themselves up to reveal gorgeously-executed hooks on the backdrop of a rich sonic template.
