Fakebook by Yo La Tengo
Deliciously fun covers with the feel of a 70s greatest hits album of sing-a-long car songs for the family road trip to Walleyworld. Essential Yo La Tengo & Highly Recommended! |
This is the one I still have to listen to |
It's really good. Unlike anything else in their discog and a fan favorite.

Swerve by Giant Sand
The sound of the guitars on this is AMAZING! Real fun, rowdy, unhinged Alt Country rocker. Having Juliana Hatfield as a guest vocalist is inspired she fits that role perfectly. Just ask Evan.
This and a sic pack of Busch is all I need on a Saturday night for nice party on the ol' deck.

Awesome recs!!! I've totally left this site unattended. Weeds are growing between the baseboards.
BUT that's about to change...

I don't remember being that stressed out during a regular season game in years. Mahomes will get Brady in round 2 though.

We'll see. No doubt that Mahomes is the real deal though. We're lucky he had an off first half!!!

8 Albums A Week
Ok. I've been listening to FAR too many albums. I'm a self-professed album addict, and I need to stop. Now.
So I'm going to reign in my music listening habits by listening to only 8 albums per week. This diary will attempt to log my progress. And hopefully be a decent source of recs along the way.
I'm going to steal some ideas from BayState in selecting my 8 albums per week. First off, they'll all be from the same year and secondly, they'll all be from different broad categories such as Metal, Soul, Punk, Hip Hop, etc.
The first year I'm going to tackle is 1985 and the first album is ...
Anything You Sow by William Onyeabor
(Synth Pop/Synth Funk)
I know nothing about this album. So this will be a very first listen. I've been meaning to check out William Onyeabor for a couple years now thanks to a rec from Mecca.
First impression: Imagine if the keyboardists of New Order and OMD were simultaneously taken over by a playful gang of Islanders who simply wanted to party and dance.
Initial Grade: B+
RIYL: Brian Eno's 70s art pop albums such as Here Comes The Warm Jets with a dose of Island attitude.

Wow, you're already done with 1994?? That was fast! Although I'm sure you had listened to a much larger number of albums from '94 when we started. Anyway, it was fun while it lasted, lol _________________ Add me on RYM
