One of the greatest, most moving works of art ever created.

So singularly creative, emotionally and conceptually resonant that it should be embarrassing to see several of the albums that supposedly outrank it Brick wall

A couple weekends ago, I met a girl named Sara at the bar and had one of the happiest nights of my life. The next morning I picked her up at her apartment so we could go to Zumba together, and between the time we were done with that and the date we had at night, something happened that I'd never expected before. I learned to like Astra Weeks

I can put this album on and be as happy as the first time I ever heard it. Studio musicians don't get a lot of love and this is one album where they definitely kill it. Not to discount Morrison's talents, but all those other sounds were made by some great musicians as well.

Favorite Tracks: Astral Weeks, Sweet Thing, Cyprus Avenue, The Way Young Lovers Do.

Fantastic spirit all throughout. Feels very internal/pensive.

Because of my aesthetic gravitating to pop songs a little more, I do sometimes like Moondance a bit better. I think Into the Mystic was one of the greatest songs he ever wrote.

But this... even though I'm less of a fan of jazz, is just perfect. Like I actually really like this "in spite" of the jazz. I love the bass and his vocals. The song structures take a bit to get into for me as there's less obvious "pop" melodies/song structures or what have you, but it's still totally a masterpiece. Easily tied for first of his in my book pending on my mood. I'm saying this to perhaps encourage those that might not like it because it is a bit different than your average album on the top 100. Give it a few listens... let it grow on you.

If nothing else, Cypress Ave is probably the 2nd best song he ever wrote.

Also it is interesting how mediocre and then fantastic can be all at the same time pending on your state of mind. Sometimes there's mediocre stuff I think is amazing and then amazing stuff I think is mediocre, and then all of a sudden my opinion changes and then I think otherwise. 6 months later I'm back to the mindset I had before.

Anyone else have this problem? They love certain music, then fall out of love with it, then love it all over again.

Spiritual, amazing and incredibly beautiful. I can never decide which are my favourite songs from this one, I think it changes with time moreso than with other albums

Listening to it now. It's absolutely impossible to rank the tracks here, they are all great and within the context of the album even greater.

Only with mediocre/less-than-great music that I might temporarily overrate (almost never happens anymore though). Or, sometimes, such a variation in perceived quality can happen with a masterpiece that I haven't fully assimilated yet. Certainly wouldn't happen with Astral Weeks or any other all time masterpiece that's established itself for me though. That doesn't mean I "always" am in the mood to listen to each of them, but it does mean that my admiration/awe or consideration never wanes (not counting minor downgrades in rating/ranking).
