I still have the same thoughts on E2-E4. I really don't get it. If it was released today, it'd be completely ignored. Frequencies gets an easy vote for me.

but even if it was released today, I'd love it; and then if someone came along and told me it was released in 1984 I'd kick him in the gnads, the lying bastard. It was not this revolutionary influential masterpiece some may lead you to believe, but it still sounds fresh to my ears (at least my fresh ears that can handle its techno with a strat).
It's just one of the best examples of minimalistic aesthetics that I know of, very childishly playing with the bits and pieces that he adds but then absent-mindedly getting preoccupied with the bits and pieces themselves, as though forgetting about the passing of time, without the feel for a need of any rhythmic break and just leaving behind the plan, the song itself, to just fidget away. And then the next bit. Also we don't give a damn about how it came about but that's amusing in itself. The whole thing is just so serpentine, slick and groovy. It viscerally satisfies me. Probably my fav in this tourney.
Btw some of the track title translations are bad; Und Mittelspiel means "And the middle-game" not "central game": two very different things in chess. Ruhige Nervosität is also probably an antithesis meaning "calm nervousness" not "quiet". _________________ "I feel like for the last two years there’s been sort of a sonic evolution happening and I’ve been experimenting more and more."

I love LFO's album and some of the tracks do indeed bring back memories of sweaty warehouses and fields (LFO/LFO particularly), but without a doubt E2-42 for me here. It just takes me back to a time before then, to the balearic scene of the late 80s and Sueno Latino obviously sampled from this piece which was a decade ahead of its time.
Lfo because I nominated it and Lfo the track is one of the greatest tracks of all time, any genre. Don't think I love the album as much as I did but it's still pretty great. E2-42 is very good also and basically what album master said minus the bits about warehouses and fields unfortunately.
I prefer Ashra 'new age of earth' to it but it but both fantastic and must hears if into the history of techno, house or whatever you want to call it.
