One of the most important albums, personally. I liked it when I first heard it as an eleven year-old, but it wasn't until I was fourteen that I really needed it. As cliché as it sounds, this was perfect for a sad teenager who was still developing their taste. Hell, for my senior yearbook quote, I pulled the last verse of "Stable Song." I even covered this album (called Plans B.) I'll always love this album. Sure, it's not Death Cab's best, but it's naked in its emotion, and I love that.

I find it astonishing this is the album of the day because today I had a huge fight with my longtime friend and it doesn't seem like we're going to recover and Brothers On A Hotel Bed is the song I'm using to characterize the situation. But anyways, this is one of my favorites and perhaps one of the few albums where I presently agree with critics surrounding its acclaim. It's a nice counterpart to the previous album (Transatlanticism)as it is very summery compared to Transatlanticism which reminds me of winter. Marching Bands Of Manhattan is easily my favorite song although the entire thing contains more highlights than tracks that don't stick out. The only song on the album that doesn't interest me at all is the last one Stable Song. But other than that, most of this album is perfection.

When I first joined this site I was browsing through best albums from 2000's since I had very little knowledge about that era, so I randomly chose 2005 and listened to top 10 albums from that year. This was one of the first ones that I really liked, from the first notes of the opener it grabbed me. The opener is truly a great song, and the rest of the album follows with almost the same quality. Haven't listened to it much since but this is a good excuse to give it a spin.
Later when I was doing the same with 2003 I listened to Transatlanticism and didn't like it nearly as much as this. _________________ All time
