What are the best and worst solo albums by the singer in a great band?
Off the top of my head:

Best
Ian Brown. (Stone Roses).....Golden Greats
Greg Allman ( Allman Brothers).….. Laid Back
Richard Ashcroft (The Verve)....Alone With Everybody
Scott Weiland (STP)....12 Bar Blues
Debbie Harry ( Blondie).....Koo Koo

Worst
Roger Daltrey (The Who)...., Ride a Rock Horse
Mick Jagger ( Stones)....She's the Boss
Theres so many i cant remember them all.

best:

Thriller by Michael Jackson

worst:

Isn't this just a futile race to the bottom? i'd have to actually listen to a lot of albums i know i won't like in order to do this field justice. There's even heavy competition from those artists i love. "testify", billy corgan's solo stuff, ryan adams "27", ... Tough calls, not because it isn't subjectively measurable, but because a thorough analysis would take f*cking forever.

Medulla doesn't deserve to be in the worst category (IMO it's in her top 3). I agree that Volta, however, is pretty weak aside from a couple of tracks.

The Trip by Lætitia Sadier

Whatever, Mortal by Papa M

A couple of great solo records by Laetitia Sadier and David Pajo, from Stereolab and Tortoise/Slint (all personal favourites). Not sure if Tortoise/Slint ever had a frontman in the true sense though.
