It's such a great and immensely important album and yet I an only see it as a rip off from the Singles he recorded for Sun. I guess this point of view is wrong, but I seem unable to regard this masterpiece.
I prefer the UK edition:
Blue Suede Shoes
I Got A Sweetie (I Got A Woman)
I'm Counting On You
I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone
That's All Right
Money Honey
Mystery Train
I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You)
Tryin' To Get To You
One Sided Love Affair
Lawdy, Miss Clawdy
Shake, Rattle And Roll
And even more the Brazilian one:
Good Rockin' Tonight
I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine
Lawdy, Miss Clawdy
Just Because
Money Honey
One Sided Love Affair
Shake, Rattle And Roll
Don't Be Cruel
I Want You, I Need You, I Love You
Heartbreak Hotel
That's All Right

Iconic record, but a few flat songs. Not a fan of his version of tutti fruiti and I'm counting on you drag - the rest are good to amazing.

Well... I suppose he did steal some songs too... but that was common/expected kind of back then. I think there was a bit of a riff for blue suede shoes though - it was Perkins' song, but then therefore a Sun song... anyway - bullshit I don't even know what I'm talking about.

Lmao. I was joking about Elvis copying London Calling since it came about 30 years later, but the funny thing is; I'm sure there are many very young people who look at it and probably do think Elvis copied it simply because they're familiar with the Clash one but maybe have never seen the Elvis before. And theyre too young to have a sense of history perhaps.

Oh, I laughed and then moved on. Of course Clash mimicked the cover.

I was way off on the years tho. They were only 23 years apart.
