Are there any movies you've seen that you thought were great and you wonder why nobody you mention them to has never even heard of them? These are some that I think are really great and think should be famous.

Wetherby (1985)
The Birthday Party (1968)
Dreamchild (1985)
The Servant (1963)
House of Games (1987)
Blood Simple (1984)
Betrayal (1983)
The Music Lovers (1970)
Prick Up Your Ears (1987)
They Came From Within (1975)

Edit: I didn't mean to put this in Music. Does anyone know if there's a way to move it?

Top Hat (1935)
Vivacious Lady (1938)
Holiday (1938)
The Shop Around The Corner (1940)
I Confess (1953)
Awakenings (1990)
Road to Perdition (2002)

I mean if you ask certain film scholars they'll tell you a few of these are classics but not many in the general audience that I know of have heard of or seen these (except for the friend I finally got to show Road to Perdition to).

Road to Perdition I love too. It should be more famous. Awakenings is pretty famous tho. Big Oscar movie etc. I dont know Holiday or Vivacious Lady. I gotta look them up. The others ive seen and they also should be more well-known i agree.

Awakenings got Oscar buzz sure, but it's been overshadowed by other films that Robin Williams and De Niro starred in. People usually talk about Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, or Good Morning Vietnam for RW and Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Once Upon a Time in America, Godfather Pt. II, Deer Hunter, etc. for De Niro. Awakenings rarely gets brought up since the year it was released.

EDIT: And yeah, nobody knows Vivacious Lady. One of my favorite comedies thanks to catching it on TCM once. Jimmy Stewart and Ginger Rogers in I think the only film they made together.
