IMO, this was the beginning of the end for Coldplay. Tracks 1-4 are great, and I have a soft spot for "Up In Flames", but the rest of the album is boring and overproduced.

Probably not as bad as its reputation. It was a huge decline after Viva La Vida but it wasn't drastically worse than X&Y. However after this one they never reached the heights of their early career. _________________ All time

hehehe... idk why, but this was the best response to any album ever.
Also, yes this was the decline, but yes, I actually like it better than X&Y, but actually NOTHING after this album was good from Coldplay.
They are dead to me.
Bastards.
Still kind of pisses me off. (seems appropriate)

Pretty much the point in their discography where I stopped listening to full albums (I do like a couple of the Ghost Stories singles though). I don't like X&Y much but it's better than this and has a handful of decent songs unlike this.

Rush of blood to the head is really, really good. So, i dont think they sucked all the time.
Huge amonts of potential.
I dont know exactly when the decline initiated but it sounds like other members are better
Informed.
But i have to say, there performance at the super bowl was SO bad.
I couldn't believe how awful it was.

Oh. I'm mostly just kidding. I actually liked Parachutes ok when it came out, but i really did not like A Rush Of Blood at all when it came out. I was in med school at the time and it became the soundtrack at so many frickin'' coffee shops where I would study. Kind of like Aching baby when I was in college. They are both not my thing to begin with and then overplay pretty much killed them for me.

I like this one. If the back half were as strong as the front, it'd be up to A Rush of Blood to the Head for me--which is my second favorite of theirs, after Viva La Vida. As it is, yeah. This is dry run for A Head Full of Dreams, in the worst way possible. Foreshadowing, if you will. Whatever it led to, it's got some terrific songs. "Charlie Brown," in particular is top five Coldplay for me.
Track picks
2. Hurts Like Heaven
4. Charlie Brown
8. Major Minus
9. U.F.O. _________________ Inversion Verses
