If I put together the best albums of the century right now, this would easily land in the top 10. Absolute perfection. It’s just so awe-inspiring how Modest Mouse could be just as much at home on land, singing about gentrification & traversing highways as they were in rocketing around solar systems.

It's okay - probably their best album. I quite liked it back in the day, but in the end I never really felt the hype about Modest Mouse was deserved. Gave away this and all my other MM albums to charity recently because I wasn't listening to them anymore. No regrets.

Hope it will grow on me. I kinda see the potential and want to "get it", but after 3rd listen nothing really grabbed my attention. Probably just needs more listening.

It honestly took me a couple years, and I also found that Good News for People Who Love Bad News and The Lonesome Crowded West to be far more accessible at first.

Interesting, this was the album that got me into them and it was hook, line and sinker for me (fell in love immediately). And I think I'm your typical idiot listener.

Curious as to the struggle to get into it? What objections did you have your first listen?
