Common People is my pick for the GOAT song, and I mean that literally. Disco 2000 is also incredible.
~~~~~
From the RYM comment box for the album:
Me: This is a great album in spite of Jarvis Cocker sounding way too horny and desperate
JeffExcellence: This is a great album because of Jarvis Cocker sounding way too horny and desperate
For those of you who are fans of this record, which is closer to your point of view? _________________ Add me on RYM
Basically I agree with Jeff. It's part of Pulp's DNA to sound horny and desperate. If Jarvis wasn't horny he might as well have been singing in Ocean Colour Scene. That said, they do other things on A Different Class which stops it from being too samey. The previous album was just horny and desperate from start to finish but it does contain the truly great Babies.
I don't know. I never thought about it. I guess Jeff's? But I do know it's a great album. Best Britpop album. _________________ on such a winter's day
Sounds a little bit old now... But it's very good, Jarvis has a lot of charisma and could shock you in any time.
"Common People" is one of the best songs of all time, with "This is Hardcore" too.
The britpop album from the britpop band. Sure, it's very much of its time but I don't think it really affects its value and quality. Both the music with disco influences and catchy choruses and Jarvis Cocker's incredible lyricism really shine on this album.
Some tracks are decade defining classic, other are either in the form of witty cynical social commentary or nostagia driven bittersweet tunes. Both are equally good.
The section from tracks 5 to 9 is mindblowing. _________________ All time
