Pleasure. That’s the debt for Joe McPhee repaid then
Obviously owes a great deal to Fahey but her spin on American Primitivism (and this track in particular) was one of my favourite things of the last 12 months. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing Folk 'n Stuff SHAMELESS RECORD DEALER PLUG
Wow. Two really excellent songs there. Very hard to choose.
In the end, I gotta' go with the very cool guitar rock of Enjoy. Which isn't to say I don't thing very highly of Sometime's There's Blood: I do. The very narrow tiebreaker comes merely because I've heard lots and lots of solo acoustic guitar that sounds so very much like the latter, both structurally and sonically. The former may not actually be any more original or groundbreaking, but it just sounds fresher to me personally, with some great moments that leap out and grab me in a way the former, great as it is, doesn't.
Sometimes There's Blood was amazing and impressive, but I am a sucker for great guitar rock and Enjoy is the song I want to listen to again a few times. Adding the Bevis Frond album to check out.
