Yeah I really do enjoy The Beths more than many of these all-of-a-sudden copious 90s throwback bands, and while the song isn't stunning it's a lot of fun and has some unique energy to it, prefer it over the other things-done-changed rock (which is still pretty good regardless) of "The Alligator Bride".
i wouldve gone with "future me hates me" or "you wouldnt like me", but i do gotta say the whole kiwi/aussie indie scene sound is pretty great and im stoked to see where it goes from here -- despite being reminiscent of 90s US indie bands i think it has a certain quality that makes it unique and i don't just mean the accent lol
A close call for me but the guitar work of Howlin Rain gets my vote, although it wouldn't have over the two The Beths songs Gowi mentioned. Coincidental side note: I just found out today that The Beths have pulled out of a gig in April I have tickets for.

thats a shame, but man you guys in Australia and New Zealand have an exploding indie scene right now; must be pretty exciting to experience that as it happens

Yes the live scene has been incredible the last few years. I am having to pick and choose instead of whatever we got that was decent when I was younger. Seeing so much live music is really enhancing my appreciation of their albums too.
