I really liked Beverly, but the Sons of Kenet tune is off the hook awesome.

And a wicked good use of tuba to boot... that don't normally happen.

I adore Your Queen Is A Reptile - one of my favourite albums of last year, and for me this is the highlight. Nothing against the other track (which ain’t too shabby), but SoK are pretty much single-handedly responsible for a personal jazz trip which this time last year I’d never have entertained.

Gotta go with an emotional favorite this time over something I highly admire but don't love, though the memory of six beer deep.sing along definitely helps in choosing LCC

Pity I have to vote against one of these. I like 'Beverly''s immediately catchy, heartfelt, post-Hold Steady take on John Cougar Mellencamp - like, a lot - but I prefer the Sons of Kemet song, which reminds me of the all-night afrobeat parties I used to go to in London.
