Van Morrion has such a smooth style that makes him a famous, mellow, Irish folk with pop & jazz.
On this album, he is so gentle--- "and it stoned me" & "caravan".
Amazing piano ballad, "crazy love".
For me, his voice his initimate, warm, making Moondance one of the most important sexy rock classics.
Also, its one of the most front loaded albums-the first 5 songs are perfect.
Honestly, when I had this on album, I never listened to side 2.
Having a CD copy, I have to admit "brand new day" is really good.

There are very few songs better than Into The Mystic.
Oh and it's a solid record too.

This must have been one of my biggest musical dissapointments. After amazing and magical Astral Weeks this seemed just so basic and normal and boring.
Over time I have partially warmed up to it and now think that the first half is pretty solid, while the second is still so boring and uninspired. So overall I still think this is pretty overrated.
As for the tracks themselves, other than the obvious Into The Mystic and tittle track, I think Crazy Love is one of Van's best songs and vocal performances, very subtle and nuanced. _________________ All time

It's wonderful that I should return to BEA to update my chart and become a regular contributor again and find so many of my Top 100 have been recent AOTDs.
Moondance is everything I love about Van Morrison in one album. It has all these great pop sensibilities combined with his Irish prose and jazzy arrangements. I know everyone says Astral Weeks this and Astral Weeks that, but Moondance has always been and will always be THE Van the Man record. It's fun to revisit as well in the midst of my Springsteen rediscovery; you can really hear this album all over Greetings from Asbury Park (Spirit in the Night could've been ON this album) and even on some of the WIESS material (Kitty's Back in particular). Great record. I just wish it wasn't as frontloaded.
Best Tracks: "And it Stoned Me", "Moondance", "Crazy Love", "Caravan", "Into the Mystic", "Brand New Day", "Glad Tidings"
